About Me

My name is Kayla (she/they), and I am a Certified Full Spectrum Doula primarily working in birth.

I have been an environmental justice organizer for the past ten years, tending to the land and the people that climate change disproportionately impacts the most. After undergoing my own reproductive health issues, struggling to navigate the medical system on my own, and finding my healing path, I was inspired to shift my advocacy work to the one-on-one relationship level. I believe that birth work is justice work.

As a doula, I am honored to be by your side. While many current birthing practices focus primarily on the outcome (a healthy birthing person and baby), there are many other important parts of the experience that are overlooked. I help fill in the gaps by offering support in all aspects of the birth process—physical, mental, emotional, logistical, and informational. I adapt to your unique needs and desires, helping you feel more heard, seen, safe, autonomous, comfortable, and cared for.

Birth is unpredictable, and it's a time when having support can make all the difference. My role is to help you release control, tether you to the ground (adamah), and find resilience no matter the outcome. I offer non-judgmental care, trusting that you know what’s best for your body, spirit, and baby. â€‹

Outside of birthwork, you can find me foraging, hanging out with Lake Monona, learning from plants, making art & music, or in a handstand.

“What each of us practices at the scale of our individual lives is what is then possible for us at a large scale. I’m a microcosm of all the possible liberation, justice, pleasure and honesty in the universe, and I act accordingly.”– adrienne maree brown
